The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a very unique program "Music for a Mission" on 7th August, 2020 on the Zoom Platform to support the rare gems from the field of sports. The current situation has created an unprecedented crisis in the life various players and many of them are facing financial instability.
Mr. Subrata Dutta, Chairperson, The Sports Development Committee, delivered the Welcome Address and said that the committee through the event "Music for a Mission" would continue to financially support needy sports professionals across the country. The Bengal Chamber is also highly indebted to Pt. Tanmoy Bose, world renowned percussionist, eminent singers Sri Srikanta Acharya, Smt. Jayati Chakraborty and Smt. Lopamudra Mitra for supporting this cause without accepting any honorarium.
The evening started with the melodious performance by Smt. Lopamudra Mitra followed by a powerful performance by Tabla Maestro, Pandit Tanmoy Bose. He also engaged the audience with his fun-filled conversation.
Ms. Swastika Ghosh engaged the audience in a candid conversation about her journey and the various hardships she is currently facing; she also shared her future plans and various other insights. She is World No 5, Women's U-18 Table Tennis player and is facing huge financial crisis due to this pandemic. A financial support of one lakh rupees was handed over to her from the Committee in an attempt to provide support to her during this unprecedented time.
This was followed by Eminent Singer Smt. Jayati Chakraborty who spell bounded the audience with her mellifluous music and Shri Srikanta Acharya, Eminent Singer who mesmerized everyone with his performance.
The evening ended with a closing address by the Emcee of the programme, Ms. Reshmi Chatterjee, Entrepreneur, Curator, Halo Heritage, Member of The Sports Development Committee, The Bengal Chamber.
