On the eve of the 74th Independence Day, the Media, Music and Films Forum of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an Adda Session to find positive way forward in this period of global Pandemic. For us Independence Day has always been a day of Celebration, of coming together to remember the sacrifice made by our freedom fighters. But this is the first Independence Day that India observed staying at home and maintaining social distancing.
One of the focuses of this initiative was to take up the agenda of education for all. Present on the digital Adda Session, Mr. Arindam Sil, Chairperson of the Media, Music & Films
Forum of the BCC&I and Eminent Film Maker and Social Activist said, "The true Independence of a country is guided by the education of its masses, specially of its young people and we from The Chamber
have decided to celebrate this Independence day by distributing books & stationaries to 1000 Amphan affected children of the Sundarban district". Eminent singer Ms. Imon Chakroboty
expressed her concern regarding freedom of expression and showed her views on the "Right of Expression". Former CEO of Prasar Bharati & Former Secretary of Culture Mr. Jahar Sarkar
has also mentioned that this Independence Day is unique as Nature has forced us to bow down to her. The whole world has struggled to find an answer to fight a VIRUS. Social entrepreneur Ms.
Nandita Palchoudhury has also expressed her views on equality and social empowerment. Sr. Vice Chairman and Head of Cardiac Surgery Dr. Kunal Sarkar in his speech mentioned
that in the past 73 years, the country has achieved a lot in every sphere of life, be it education, health, or economy. India has proved itself to be a Global super power. Even in this epic Pandemic,
India has maintained the lowest death rate compared to the 1st world country. With our limited resources we have ensured optimum fight with COVID-19 virus and hopefully our Healthcare system will come
out victorious in this uneven battle. He ended the session with optimism that the youth of our country will surely battle all odds and make Mother India proud like never before. The session was well
attended by representatives of various walks of life and well appreciated by the participants and the media.
