Ratnagarbha, 2019 ( A programme of the Sports Committee), 8th March, 2019, The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata.

On 8th March, 2019 The Bengal Chamber Of Commerce and Industry celebrated The International Women's Day through the annual Flagship program, Ratnagarbha held at The Lalit Great Eastern in the evening.

A woman in her lifetime dons multiple roles, Motherhood being one of the most special ones. As a mother, she creates and nurtures and gifts a new generation to the country. She juggles between the roles of a provider, a disciplinarian, a friend, a teacher, a guide and many more. A woman redefines and rediscovers herself through the journey of motherhood. A mother and child relation is an epitome of unparalleled love, care and support irrespective of time, space and distance.

The Bengal Chamber through "Ratnagarbha" sought to salute women for this colossal job of strength, struggle and beauty. The evening was dedicated to those women who have offered us the jewels of our nation. The Chamber, through this initiative, paid its special tribute to the "Mothers' of our Leading Lights" from the sectors of Sports, Education, Healthcare, Literature, Social Service, Film, Music and Business.

Mr. Indrajit Sen, President, The Bengal Chamber, delivering the Welcome address stressed on the efforts of the Chamber to always innovate and evolve, and hence, this year, The Chamber introduced The Lifetime Achievement Award from The Chamber to honour the sons of the soil for their astounding achievement in their field of work and making Bengal proud. The very first recipient of this award was Mr. Sourav Ganguly. The other freshly introduced categories were Social Welfare, Education and Healthcare. Mrs. Sushila Agarwal, mother of renowned psychotherapist Mrs. Minu Budhia, Mrs. Arati Maitra, Mother of Shri Saikat Maitra, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University and Mrs. Nandita Banerjee, Mother of renowned endocrinologist Dr. Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay were honoured in these categories.

Other award winners also included Mrs. Suchitra Ghosh, mother of Mr. Chandrasekhar Ghosh, MD, Bandhan Bank in business category, Mrs. Bula Ganguly, mother of National Award winning film director Mr. Kaushik Ganguly in the films category, Mrs. Santwana Chatterjee, mother of National Award winning singer Mr. Anindya Chatterjee, Mrs. Jharna Goswami, mother of renowned cricket personality Ms. Jhulan Goswami, Mrs. Neet Kothari, mother of renowned billiard player, Mr. Sourav Kothari and Mrs. Anita Sen, mother of widely acclaimed poet Ms. Mandakranta Sen.

The evening also was made special a beautiful musical rendition by National Award winning singer Rupankar and his team.
