Industrial visit to Durgapur, 12th January, 2019, IMERYS Steel Castings India (formerly Stollberg India Pvt Ltd).

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I) had organized its second Industrial Visit to Durgapur with the help of local industry representatives (including MSMEs) on 12th January 2019 at the factory premises of IMERYS Steel Castings India Pvt Ltd (Formerly Stollberg India Pvt Ltd).

The focus of this visit was to showcase to the industrial units about the various Manufacturing and MSME activities of the Chamber and to understand from them as to how, we as a Chamber, could become beneficial for them in bringing further developments and growth of their business entities and the Durgapur industrial zone as a whole.

The objectives of this visit were the following:

- Introduction of "The Bengal Chamber Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the MSMEs" - an initiative jointly instituted by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) and Indo German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) for the development of MSMEs (with a prime focus on West Bengal) in various aspects of their business operations.

- To understand the needs/requirements of the Industrial units (including the MSMEs) and what are their expectations from the Chamber so that, the Chamber could take it up at appropriate levels to provide solutions and benefits to the industrial fraternity in Durgapur.

The visit was lead by Mr. Debkumar Basu, Chairperson, Manufacturing and MSME Committee, BCC&I along with other members of the committee.

The visit was attended by quite a number of local industries like Supreme & Co, Jai Balaji Industries, Shyam Steel, Allied ICD Services to name a few. The total number of delegates for the visit was 35 approx.

The visit was an eye opener for all of us (who attended the visit) as it gave a very clear understanding about the industrial scenario of Durgapur particularly with reference to the business scenario of the local MSMEs.

The Chamber has planned to organize similar visits to other parts of West Bengal in the near future for the benefit of industry, especially the MSMEs.
