Health Tech 2019, 12th -13th April, 2019, The Taj Gateway, Kolkata.

Medica Superspecialty Hospital, in association with The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presented the second edition of Health Tech on 12th April 2019 {Friday) and 13th April 2019 {Saturday) at The Taj Gateway, Kolkata.

Objectives of Health Tech 2019 were:
• The only dedicated event in Eastern India region for the healthcare & wellness industry
To showcase and demonstrate best-in-class technology solutions tailor-made for the healthcare sector
To promote & showcase medical devices/equipment
• Opportunity to do B2B meetings directly with industry professionals
• Ideal platform to introduce new products & applications
• Meeting business partners under one roof
• Expand business opportunity in a region with tremendous growth in healthcare market


The forum was created to discuss, network, share best practices on technologies and applications in Healthcare. Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technology are rapidly gaining popularity in the Healthcare sector. These two technologies are remarkably converging with each other and enabling new, previously unthinkable applications in healthcare. Artificial intelligence and blockchain have quickly become the tools of choice for developers, providers, and payers scale up Health IT Infrastructure with innovative, effective data management capabilities. With the initial era of Electronic Health Record {HER) and patient portal adoption firmly in the industry's rear-view and other emerging digital technologies at various points along the maturity bell curve - telemedicine, for example, is highly mature, while artificial intelligence and machine learning still need a little more time to bake - it's a good moment to take stock of the technologies that could help providers now or in the near future. In this context, some of the cutting edge technology applications which are shaping the healthcare today and creating the pathway for healthcare in few years to come were discussed, demonstrated and showcased at the Health Tech 2019.

The two days Summit that followed had a different focus each day. The theme of the first Day, 12th April 2019 was 'Leveraging Al and Blockchain for Digital Revolutionin Healthcare'. The day featured:

• Future of Healthcare in Augmented Intelligence.
• Blockchain in Healthcare.
• Cyber Security for Healthcare
• Digital Healthcare Ecosystem
• Data Analytics, AI for healthcare.

The second Day, 13th April 2019 was a Medical Conference including Telemedicine, Robotic Surgery, Virtual Surgery, Electronic Health Record, Mobile Healthcare and other relevant topics.

12th April 2019

The Opening Session was commenced with the formal Welcome Address by Dr. Alok Roy, Former President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals. Mr. Indrajit Sen, President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Managing Director, International Combustion (India) Limited delivered the Opening Remarks. The Theme Address was delivered by Mr. Arnab Basu, Chairperson, IT Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Managing Partner, East; Technology Consulting Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited. Mr. Hubert Goffinet, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Embassy of Belgium in India graced the session. Mr. Goffinet shared his perspectives on "Research and Innovations on Pharma and Medtech -focus:Belgium". The Session was also graced by Mr. Kazuya Nakajo, Chief Director General, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), New Delhi. Mr Nakajo enlightened on "Business Opportunities with Japan in Healthtech."

The Knowledge Paper on "Reimagining Health Information Exchange in India using blockchain"; drafted by PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited as the Knowledge Partner; was released during the Opening Session. The programme also featured Dr. Alok Roy, Former President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals "In conversation with" Dr Rana Mehta, Partner and Healthcare Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited on "Leading to the Future of Healthcare - Augmented Intelligence".

The CIO's Forum themed "Cyber security in Healthcare" was chaired by Mr. Subrata Bagchi, President, TCG Digital Solutions Private Limited and the Panelists included Mr. Gunjan Kumar, CIO & Head New Initiatives, Regency Healthcare; Mr. Girish Kumar, Vice President- Operations, Welcare Health Systems; Mr. Shuvankar Pramanick, CIO, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital; Mr. Sheril Jose, Head-Cyber Security- Emcure Pharma Group and Dr. Vivek Mahadevan, Head- Healthcare Sales NTT Data India.

The programme included Mr. Abhijit Majumdar, Partner & Leader IT Strategy, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Pvt. Ltd "In conversation with" Mr. Rama Krishna, COO, Zoreum.Com on "Block chain- a game changer in Healthcare".

Mr. Pratik Banerjee, Member, IT Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Director, Protiviti India Member Private Limited chaired "Discussion Forum on : Digital Healthcare Ecosystem" and the Panelists were: Dr. Saumitra Bharadwaj, President-Revenue, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata; Dr. Monika Pusha, Senior Manager -Market Access India & Subcontinent, Abbott and Mr. Koji Suzuki, Managing Director, Rohto Pharma (India) Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Saumitra Bharadwaj addressed on "Technology trends in health insurance: Changing face of future insurance". Dr. Monika Pusha shared her perspectives on "Emerging Technologies in Cardiovascular Diseases". Mr. Koji Suzuki deliberated his speech on "Technologies for pharma and healthcare".

The programme also included a session on "Data & Analytics reshaping Healthcare Sector"- addressed by Mr. Anupam Dutta, Executive Director, Data & Analytics, PwC India; Dr. K. S. Reghu, Associate Consultant of Paediatrics Oncology, Tata Medical Centre and Dr. Arpan Pal, Principal Scientist & Head, Embedded Systems & Robotics, TCS Research & Innovation, TATA Consultancy Services.

The first day also included B2B and B2G meetings with the Japanese Delegation, led by Mr. Kazuya Nakajo, Chief Director General, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), New Delhi. Shri Debashis Sen, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government of West Bengal attended the B2G meetings with the delegation.

The Evening Session featured Dr. Kunal Sarkar, FRCS, MNAMS, Senior Vice Chairman & Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, MEDICA Superspecialty Hospital ,Kolkata in conversation with Dr. K M Cherian, Chairman & CEO, Frontier Lifeline Hospital on 'Emerging Technologies in Medicine and their implementation in India'. The Session was followed by the Reception.

13th April 2019

The theme of the day was 'Doctors' Forum on Emerging Digital Healthcare Technologies'. Dr. Alok Roy, Former President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals delivered the formal Welcome Address.

Dr. Col Ashvini Goel, Vice President, Telemedicine Society of India addressed on "Telemedicine: An Indian Perspective."

Mr Vikram Thaploo, CEO, Apollo Tele health shared his perspectives on "The last mile-Application of Telemedicine to the Indian Healthcare scenario."

"Management of Total Knee Arthroplasty with Robotic Interface" was addressed by Mr. Nihit Tuli, Product Manager, Robotics, Smith & Nephew. The session on "Robotics: Application in Healthcare" was graced by Dr. Vinay Mahendra, Senior Consultant Urologist & Uro Oncologist Laparoscopic and Robotic Urological Surgeon and Renal Transplant Surgeon, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata and Dr. Tridibesh Mandal, Consultant Urologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata

The programme also included the dignitaries like Prof Rabin Chakrabarty, Senior Vice Chairman and Head, Department of Cardiology, Medica Superspecialty Hospital; Mr. Kshitij Agarwal, Senior Product Specialist, Cardiac Rhythm Heart Failure, Indian Sub-Continent, India Medtronic who addressed on "Healthcare Digitalization : How is it Transforming Healthcare in India"; Dr. Sumanbhusan Bhattacharya, Bhattacharyyas Clinical Research Records and Informatics, who spoke on "EHR: Application to Healthcare" and Mr. C Ashok Kumar, Managing Director, Healthcare 360 who addressed on "Medical is the new Mobile."

Ms. Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, Deputy Director, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered the Concluding Remarks.
