‘The Rising Foodpreneurs’, 16th February, 2019, Chamber Premises

The Entrepreneur's Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized 'The Rising Foodpreneurs' at Williamson Magor Hall, The Chamber Premises, Kolkata on February 16, 2019.

A brief about the Event

The city of joy - Kolkata, is well known for its love for food. We love to experiment with our plates and we welcome all kinds of cuisine. The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), being the oldest organization of its kind has always tried to support the industry with workshops, seminars, conferences, networking events etc and The Entrepreneur's Committee being one of the most vibrant committee of BCC&I, decided to create a podium to recognize Startup-Entrepreneurs and help budding talents to create a name in the industry. In its introductory year we invited Entrepreneurs from the Baking & Confectioneries segment to showcase their talents and compete to be known as the best.

Twenty four (24) participants from Bakery & Confectioners segment participated in the event to showcase their product and business model to an esteemed panel of juries and industry leaders. It was not just a promotional event for one day. It all started with the organizing committee inviting applications from participants across the city. The committee then criss- crossed the length and breadth of the city to visit each of the 24 participants. An array of data like their business model, marketing strategy, pricing, decor, sales & distribution etc. was reviewed and collated. On the day of the event, the participants went through a face-to-face interaction with the juries and a total of 5 categories were earmarked with 3 winners in each category.
