The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry is engaging with the Government, Members, Stakeholders and Society in the endeavors to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In FY 2021-'22, The Chamber helped several industries, large scale as well as MSMEs, resume operations during the restricted operational phase (15th May, 2021 onwards)> This was attained through constant advocacy with the State Government about the significance of these industries to remain operational during the restriction phase. These industries were closed following the West Bengal Government Notification No. 647-ISS/2M-22/2020, dated 15th May, 2021.
The list of industries which were supported by The Chamber for resuming their operations include Exide Industries Limited, Tata Metaliks Limited, Tractors India Limited, Datre Corporation Limited, Jaypee Engineering & Hydraulic Equipment Co. Ltd. and many others.
Further, during the restrictions imposed by the State Government, The Chamber facilitated meetings between the officials from the State Government and the industry houses, pertaining to long pending issues, such as improving drainage and sewage systems in certain industrial blocs.
The Chamber also, facilitated several vaccination camps with WBIDC and private hospitals for the industries of Bengal.
Also, during the Second Wave - Year 2021 The Chamber organized "Market Sanitization Drives" at AE & CA Market in Salt Lake along with Bansdroni Bazar, Gariahat KMC Supermarket and Jodhpur Park Market. The Bengal Chamber also distributed sufficient number of Masks and Sanitizers to the following Police Stations:
