Programme Details

On Friday, 5th March 2020, Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre in association with HIDCO organized the "Inauguration of Bee Corridor at Eco Park". The project is implemented by Schoppen Solutions (Formerly known as Sigma Delta), an Incubatee of Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre. It is an initiative involving emerging technologies like IoT, Artificial Intelligence to monitor the behavior of the bees which will facilitate colonization. The project has been awarded to them by HIDCO which manages Eco Park. The inauguration took place under the guidance and august presence of Shri Debashis Sen, Chairman & Managing Director, HIDCO and Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal.

The Welcome Address for the programme was given by Mr. Arnab Basu, Chairperson - IT Committee and Managing Partner, East and Technology Consulting Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt. Ltd. followed by "Mentors' Speak" by Mr. Kalyan Kar, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Inqube Innoventures Pvt. Ltd. and Mentor of Webel-BCC&I tech Incubation Centre. Mr. Arijit Das, Founder, Schoppen Solutions (Formerly Sigma Delta) and Incubatee of Webel-BCC&I tech Incubation Centre spoke about the unique initiative and also demonstrated how these "smart" honeybee boxes work and is going to help the beekeepers. According to Mr. Das, bees will be saved from extinction, thereby restoring ecological balance and it will also generate revenue and increase income of thousands of people.

The programme was well attended by the Mentors of Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre including Mr. R.N. Lahiri, Director, Batanagar Institute of Engineering, Management and Science (Batanagar Education and Research Trust), Mr. Debasis Basu, Former Vice President - Projects, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Mr. Sarbajit Das, Founder & CEO, Sun Dew Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Debjit Chakraborty, Global Head - CLOUD ERP and Oracle Practice, Tech Mahindra. Members of the Advisory Committee of Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre were also present at the programme including Mr. Chiranjib Bhattacharya, Chief Executive Officer, Wizertech Informatics Pvt. Ltd. and Co-Chairperson - IT Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Prodip Mukhopadhyay, Managing Director, West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited, Mr. Swarup Roy, Advisor, IT Promotion Cell, Information Technology & Electronics Department, Government of West Bengal, Mr. Manjit Nayak, Additional Director, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and Mr. Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Officials from the Consulates, the Press and Senior Members of The Chamber were also present at the programme.

We also invited Shri Gopal Chandra Ghose, Joint Managing Director, HIDCO, Shri Ananda Ganguly, Executive Director (Engg.), HIDCO and Shri Atanu Palodhi, Retd. WBCS (Exe) and Curator, Eco Park along with few other Senior Officials from HIDCO.
