The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with
The Telegraph organized a Think Series Lecture on 21st
November 2016 at the Bengal Lounge, Chamber premises.

Sutanu Ghosh, President, The Bengal Chamber delivered
the welcome address.
The Chairperson of the Marketing and Brand Committee of
the Chamber, Mr. Anoop Hoon talked about the legacy of
Asian Paints and shared some information about the
Company’s past, its growth trajectories, and shared inputs
about how Asian Paints as an Organization modernized
itself.
Mr. KBS Anand, MD & CEO, Asian Paints started his discussion
with the success stories of Asian Paints. Soon after
liberalization, the top management of the company had
identified the need for changes in its business policies for
holding on to the market share against the Foreign
competitors. He mentioned that processes involved for the
success of Asian Paints as an organization lay in modernizing
the plants, investment in R&D, using extensive IT based
processes, studying global competition, understanding the
behaviour of today’s consumer, consumer awareness,
increasing the distribution network, upgrading and
benchmarking products amongst others. The Company
came up with full varieties of home decor instead of just
paints in the market, and have reached billions of people
through concepts like colour ideas, ezy colour and AP homes.
Asian Paints are also engaged in skilling people and is also
environment friendly - they continue to use less and less
water in their plants. Eventually, with strategic planning and
strong value chain system Asian paints have out-competed
foreign players and it is now an example of how an Indian
company with good intention and determination can
showcase their image in the world.
