- CERTIFICATE COURSE ON INDIRECT TAXES, 18TH NOVEMBER – 10TH DECEMBER 2016, CHAMBER PREMISES
The Indirect Taxes Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry had organized a Certificate Course on Indirect Taxes (Including GST) in November-December, 2016. This was the 4th batch with more than 30 participants from different sectors. Last 3 batches were held in 2014 and 2015. There were 8 days of classes, held on Fridays (4:30 pm – 7:30 pm) and Saturdays (10.00 am – 5:30 pm) on Indirect Taxes (Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, Foreign Exchange Management Act, Service Tax and GST) under the overall guidance of Mr. T. B. Chatterjee, Chairperson - Indirect Taxes committee, BCC&I & Chief Corporate Officer, Legal and Corporate Affairs, DIC India Limited. This year, the Course was conducted with special focus on GST. Other faculty members were Mr. Pulak Saha, Co-Chairperson - Indirect Taxes Committee, BCC&I & Partner - Tax & Regulatory Services, Price Waterhouse & Co. LLP; Mr. Debasish Ghosh, Director, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd; Mr. Vivek Jalan, Partner, M/s JAV & Associates, Chartered Accountants; Mr. Arun Agarwal, FCA, K N Jain & Co and Ms. Shivani Shah, Proprietor, Shivani Shah & Associates, who are the experts from the industry in taxation matters. This is an extremely relevant training programme for taxation professionals for overall improvement of operational efficiency in their respective organizations. Mostly senior and mid-level executives of different organizations had taken part in the course.
