- BENGAL CHAMBER PRESS MEET, 20TH OCTOBER 2016, CHAMBER PREMISES
The Bengal Chamber, following its annual tradition,
organized a Press Meet for the Office Bearers of the Chamber
on 20th October 2016 at the Chamber premises. The Press
Meet was addressed by the President, Mr. Sutanu Ghosh
and Mr. Indrajit Sen, Senior Vice President along with Mr.
Subhodip Ghosh, Director General.
Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, President, The Bengal Chamber shared
the theme, ‘Looking Back to Think Ahead’. He said that the
overarching focus of the Chamber would be at fulfilling 3
distinct but interconnected roles:
• Being of use to the Business Fraternity
• Being of use to the Government
• Being of use to the People
Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, President shared with the media the
snapshots of our activities till date and also updated them
about our various projects and activities. He shared his views
on the proposed Tajpur Port and about the turnaround of
Shalimar Works in the context of barge manufacturing, for
which a proposal had been submitted to the State
Government. The Senior Vice President, Mr. Indrajit Sen,
spoke about the GST issues and its impact on the industry.
Mr Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, briefed about the
agricultural initiatives of the Chamber. He spoke about the
5 villages adopted by the Chamber in Birbhum District and
also about the mega Pulses Summit which the Chamber
would be organizing in Shantineketan in the month of
November along with Government of West Bengal and Visva
Bharati University with BCKV as the Knowledge Partner.
The Press Meet concluded with a walk through of our newly
minted “Calcutta Gallery” which was tremendously
appreciated by everyone present.
