The Russian Export Center represents a huge number of companies, manufacturers, exporters of goods and technologies from different areas, including IT, food, energy, mining, metallurgy, oil and gas, infrastructure projects, equipment etc, and they have a wide range of interests. Mr. Dmitry Makeev, Head of the E-Commerce Department (India) and Mr. Pavel Borisov, Special Project Manager (India) of the Russian Export Center visited Kolkata during the last week of September, when the Chamber organised a focused B2B meet of companies from the food sector which would like to have fruitful cooperation with the Russian businesses.

From the Indian side, Mr. Sashank Shah, Vice President, Keventer and Mr. Saurabh Maheshwari, Additional GMProcessed Food and Dairy of Spencer’s Retail Limited participated in the exploratory meeting and discussed import-export opportunities amongst the 2 countries. During discussions both parties presented their cases in terms of mutual product categories. The Russian delegates were requested to appoint a distributor (out of the list of distributors which would be provided) for supplying into the Indian market as a whole. The requirements have to be consolidated and while importing, FSSAI rules and regulations need to be complied with. The Russians would specify and share the packaged food and beverage product categories for import over email exchanges with respect to the linkages established during the meeting.
