Workshop on E-Waste Management -Challenges, Prospects and Strategies
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India organized a Workshop on “E-Waste Management” on 29th May 2017 in The Bengal Chamber premises.
The objective of the Workshop was to provide an insight into various aspects of e-waste management with respect to the current situation and future scenario.
Dr. Kalyan Rudra, Chairman, West Bengal Pollution Control Board graced the session along with Mr. Anil Khaitan, Sr. Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Chairman & Managing Director, Sunil Heathcare Ltd; Mr. Raman Sharma, Director, Exigo Recycling; Mr. Sasanka Dev, Secretary, DISHA; Mr. Nandan Mall, C. E .O, Hulladek Recycling and Mr. Gopaditya Das, Environmental Sustainability, Health & Safety, Tata Consultancy Services Limited. Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, President and Mr. Aloke Mookherjea, Past President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman, Howden Solyvent (India) Private Limited were also present along with other senior members who participated in the Workshop.
Dr. Kalyan Rudra’s august presence and his insights on the subject greatly added to the excellence of the programme. Mr. Sasanka Dev, Secretary, DISHA delivered a presentation on ‘E –Waste Recycling’. Mr. Dev focused on basic principles on Waste Management, opportunities in E-Waste recycling and difficulties in E-Waste recycling. Mr. Raman Sharma, Director, Exigo Recycling shared his perspectives on ‘Role of Formal Sector in E-Waste Recycling in India’. Mr. Gopaditya Das, Environmental Sustainability, Health & Safety, Tata Consultancy Services Limited spoke on ‘E-Waste Management- Environmental Sustainability, Health & Safety’. The key points of his presentation covered the TCS E-waste Policy & Green Procurement Policy; Process of E-waste disposal –Lifecycle Management; TCS –Green Procurement & Environment Policy. The presentations were followed by the Q/A Session.

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India organized a Workshop on “Hazardous Waste Management” on 30thMay 2017 in The Bengal Chamber premises.
The objective of the Workshop was to create awareness about hazardous waste amongst the stakeholders including individual industries, common environmental facility operators, representatives of the industry associations, auditors, consultants, faculty members of technical institutes, NGOs and all others concerned. The workshop was structured to cover the policy, handling practices, treatment techniques and environmental aspects of developing hazardous waste management systems.
Mr. Anil Khaitan, Sr. Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Chairman & Managing Director, Sunil Heathcare Ltd; Mr. Sisir Mandal, Environmental Engineer, West Bengal Pollution Control Board; Mr. Nawal Kishor Verma, Former Addl. Director, Central Pollution Control Board; Mr. Snehangshu Chakraborty, Coordinator, Ramky Groups of Company; Mr. Ulhas V Parlikar, Dy. Head – Geocycle India, ACC Limited and Mr. P. Chakraborty, Regional Director, National Productivity Council graced the session. Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry was also present along with the senior members who participated in the Workshop.
Mr. Sisir Mandal, Environmental Engineer, West Bengal Pollution Control Board spoke on ‘Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016’. Mr. Nawal Kishor Verma, Former Additional Director, Central Pollution Control Board shared his perspectives on ‘Application of 3R Concept – In Management of Industrial Waste’ and ‘Trans Boundary Movement of Hazardous Waste for Recycling’. Mr. Snehangshu Chakraborty, Coordinator, Ramky Groups of Company delivered a presentation on ‘Guidelines on Setting up of Common TSDF and Incineration Facility’ and Mr. Ulhas V Parlikar, Dy. Head – Geocycle India, ACC Limited spoke on ‘Co-Processing – The Preferred Option For Management of Non-Recyclable Hazardous Wastes’.
The Workshop was followed by the Q/A Session and a site visit to Medicare Environment Management Pvt. Ltd. ‘F’ Road, Belgachhia, Howrah.
