The Entrepreneurs’ Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Cyber Security Workshop on “Tackling the Next Generation Information Security Threats” on 26th May 2017 at Hotel De Sovrani, Salt Lake, Kolkata.
The workshop was meant for business owners, professionals connected with information security of the organization, middle and senior levels management professionals in the organization and from various functional areas who are involved in development of business level strategies.
The workshop was moderated by Mr Abhijit Hazra who is a Tech Entrepreneur and Chairman - The Entrepreneurs’ Committee, BCC&I. The faculty members were Mr Soham Sengupta,a Senior Technical Architect, Researcher on Network and Cyber Security, Recipient of IBM Drona Award and Mr Prasanta Bhattacharya, who is an Abstract Mathematician and Cryptographer working on discrete mathematical function and Next Gen Encryption Technology.
Participants included Senior Level Managers and Executives from ICRA Online Limited, Merlin Group, Deloitte, Ambuja Neotia Group, Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd, Centre For Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and many more.
The faculty members explained how security had become an important key to the modern connected world and a crucial factor in inspiring consumer confidence to achieve commercial success for the new technologies emerging in the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as implementation of Industry 4.0 and eHealth. They also spoke about the critical development of the growing reliance on virtualization technologies in combination with data networking and enabled Cloud computing. The best practices to prevent Ransomware attacks were also discussed in the workshop.
The speakers shared their views on how solutions certainly include a reliable and secure network infrastructure but solutions depend on trust on the part of users – both individuals and businesses. The participants were greatly benefitted from this workshop and they expressed their interest to participate in these types of workshops in future.
