On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Sports Development Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Ananya Onnomon, a socio-cultural organization and partner of the Chamber in many of its cultural activities, paid tribute to those ladies whose untiring toils have made their children illustrious achievers and leaders in their respective walks of life. The Chamber celebrated this unique day with a very special programme – “Ratnagarbha”.

The Chamber paid tribute to Smt. Champa Devi Kanoria, pioneer of the Kanoria Foundation, SREI Group; Smt. Deepa Mallick Chakraborty, Mother of noted actress, Smt Koel Mallick; Smt Sanjukta Ghosh, Mother of Pandit Bickram Ghosh, well-known table player and percussionist; Smt Manjura Ali, Mother of Mr. Mir Afsar Ali, anchor, actor, musician and RJ; Smt Shiela Vijaya, Mother of Ms. Archana Vijaya, noted television presenter; Smt Kalyani Sarkar, Mother of Shri Joy Sarkar; Smt Meera Gandhi, Mother of Shri Devang Gandhi, Former Test Cricketer and Smt Sanjukta Chakraborty, Mother of Smt Lagnajita Chakraborty, singer.

A special presentation was conducted by famous Gynaecologist of the city, Dr. Gautam Khastagir, Medical Director, BIRTH, on “Dream Comes True for Motherhood”. The programme was moderated by Mr. Debashish Dutta, well-known journalist, and included performances by Mr Abhijit Das and Ms Debjani Dutta of Ananya Onnomon.
