The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been organizing Skill Conclaves and Summits for the last few years focusing on the Eastern and North Eastern parts of India. This activity has now become an annual event of the Chamber. Since the North Eastern Part of the Country is a priority area and require extensive professional inputs in respect of introducing skills training providers, initiating large number of training programmes, organizing training of trainers programmes, maintaining liaison with industries and recruiters and universities and most importantly establishing links between industries and institutes, The Bengal Chamber has a special focus on the North Eastern region of the country in the realm of Skill Development.
The programme witnessed the presence of Shri Ujjal Biswas, Hon’ble Minister of the Technical Education & Training Department, Govt. of West Bengal. There were representatives from the State of Tripura and Nagaland attending the programme. Institutes that participated in the programme included George Telegraph, Globsyn and JIS among various other institutes that impart skills education in West Bengal. Tata Strive, Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd and Berger were some of the corporates that came forward to be a part of this programme. Presence of a few Sector Skill Councils also created a difference and helped create a strong synergy between the various stakeholders of the skills fraternity. The Hon’ble Minister personally appreciated the efforts of the Chamber.
