The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Vedanta Institute Kolkata organized a workshop on “Work Life Balance – Distress to De-Stress” on 19th December 2015 at ITC Room, The Chamber Premises.
The programme was meant for CEOs, senior managers, HR heads who are involved with strategic decision making. The objective was to understand human composition, development of clarity in thinking, achieve work life balance and gain clarity on mission of life. The Guest Faculty of this workshop was Shri L Ramaswamy (Chief Events Coordinator of Vedanta Institute Kolkata & member of MENSA, an international society of high IQ people). Some of the participants were Mr. Ravindra Chamaria (Group Chairman – Infinity Infotech Parks Ltd), Mr. Sudhanshu Roy (Vice President – HR, Medica Hospitals Pvt. Ltd.) Ms. Reena Sarkar (HR Executive, ITC Limited) Mr. S Ravichandran (National Business Development Manager, Berger Paints India Ltd.) Mr. R.N Tripathy (Manager Environment – Coal India Ltd.) Dr. Kusagradhi Ghosh (Gynecologist), Mr. Prakash Kumar (Senior Specialist- Global Windows Infrastructure, Linde Global Support Services Pvt. Ltd.) among others.
This hands-on session addressed the following points:-
• The three components of management.
• Locate root cause of stress
• Nature of human mind
• Self management = Intellect > Mind
• Impulsive vs. Discriminative Actions
• Modification of Desire
• Discipline your desires to reduce stress
• Eradicate your desires to eliminate stress
• Relief from stress
Shri L Ramaswamy also explained how management consultants conducted courses with no clue to the origin of stress, offered cosmetic solutions which provide some temporary relief. The psychiatrists fixed labels of disease to stress; they treated the effect rather than the cause. It’s the Self Management which locates the root cause of stress within human beings and equipped them with a strong intellect to handle it. Only then they could achieve work life balance.
The participants expressed their strong wish to participate in this type of workshops whenever conducted by the Chamber.
