The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized “The Bengal Entrepreneurship Recognition 2015” on 1st September 2015 at Williamson Magor Hall, The Chamber Premises followed by the final award ceremony on 10th September 2015 at Williamson Magor Hall, The Chamber Premises (during the AGM of the Chamber).
The Bengal Entrepreneurship Recognition initiative was conceptualized by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to help identify and reward all entrepreneurs of West Bengal with outstanding entrepreneurial vision, irrespective of their size, wealth and competencies who are instrumental in the socio-economic development of the State. The aim of the initiative was to encourage the dynamic, sustainable and forward thinking entrepreneurs of West Bengal. This initiative recognized entrepreneurship aiming at promoting further entrepreneurial activity. As such, the recognition also aimed to contribute to the growth of Bengal’s dynamic entrepreneurial network.
The Panel of Judges for this programme were Mr. Aloke Mookherjea, Chairman – Howden Solyvent (India) Private Limited and Past President – The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. S Radhakrishnan, President – TiE Kolkata and Past President – The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, Managing Director – Ghosh, Bose & Associates Private Limited and President Designate – The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Forty-Seven companies from both Services and Non-Services sectors participated in this project out of which six companies from the Services sector and six companies from Non-Services sector qualified for the final round of recognition. After presentations and one-to-one interviews for each company representative in front of the panel of judges, the Winner, 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up of both Services and Non-Services sectors were finalized by the panel of judges. Their awards were presented to them on 10th September 2015 by the Chief Guest of the Annual General Meeting 2015 of The Chamber, Dr. Amit Mitra (Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Commerce and Industries, Finance and Excise, Information Technology and Electronics, Industrial Reconstruction and Public Enterprises, Government of West Bengal). The winners were :
Winner (Services sector) - Ms. Nabonita Bose Mukherjee of Bubbs Co.
First Runner-Up (Services sector) - Mr. Sanjeev Kothari of Orion Edutech Pvt. Ltd.
Second Runner-Up (Services Sector) - Mr. Bodhisattva Banerjee of Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology
Winner (Non-Services Sector) - Mr. Sagar J Daryani and Mr. Binod Kr. Homagai of Wow Momo Foods Private Limited
First Runner-Up (Non-Services sector) - Mr. Somenath Mukherjee of Bengal Speech & Hearing Private Limited
Second Runner-Up (Non Services sector) - Mr. Gyanesh Chaudhary of Vikram Solar Private Limited.
Dr. Amit Mitra greatly appreciated this initiative of The Bengal Chamber and asked the Chamber to continue this type of initiative to inspire Bengal’s young and small businesses to unlock their entrepreneurial potential which will in turn help to mitigate the effects of any crisis and contribute to achieving our socio-economic goals on the ground.
