The U.S. Consulate Kolkata hosted its first Green Fair on 20th November, 2015. The fair themed as "Think Globally, Act Locally" was hosted at the American Center in collaboration with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kolkata. This fair was part of the U.S Goverment's global climate change awareness campaign.

The initiative was about the US Consulate Kolkata along with select corporate houses, Public Sector offices, civic bodies, urban planners and NGOs showcasing their greening efforts in their respective establishments with the aim to aid "Greening Kolkata". Green-tech models for renewable energy, green finance options and environmental initiatives for healthier neighbourhoods were also highlighted at this fair.

Mr. James (Jim) Brainard, Mayor of Carmel, Indiana in the United States was the keynote speaker on sustainable development and energy efficiency. Intracting with participants and attendees at the fair Mayor Brainard shared notes on how goverments, businesses and individuals around the world are helping #ActOnClimate.

Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, President Designate of the Bengal Chamber presented the Kolkata perspective on climate change mitigation and environmental initiatives.
