A programme was organized jointly by the Global Change Program, Jadavpur University and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry with funding from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Research Council of Norway (RCN) under the Indo-Norwegian Cooperation Program (INCP) on 24th May 2016 in the Chamber premises.
With fast depleting fossil fuel reserves and climate change problem, supply and use of energy have a distinct possibility of paradigm shift all over the world. With introduction of new technologies and use pattern, newly trained manpower in the field of energy is an inevitable need. With overall acceptability of the concept of ‘sustainable energy’, the need for change in energy education is most pressing. The objective of this program was to address and discuss this need. Experienced speakers from both industry and academia shared their ideas in this respect.
The programme ran in two sessions. The programme was introduced by Mr Subhodip Ghosh, Director General Designate, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the theme of the programme was laid down by Dr. Sudipta De (Programme Coordinator), Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Core Committee member, GCP-JU, Jadavpur University. The programme was well attended by more than 130 delegates.
