The Australian Trade Commission (Australian Government), The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) and Curtin University, Australia, organised an Interactive Think Tank Session for Joint Research in Future Technologies in the evening of Friday, 13th May, 2016, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Lalit Great Eastern.
The respected dignitaries who graced the evening included Her Excellency the High Commissioner of Australia (to India) Ms Harinder Sidhu; Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) Professor Brett Kirk of Curtin University and President Designate of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) Mr Sutanu Ghosh among many other notable figures. The Bengal Chamber was the partner for the evening.
Curtin University boasts of an impressive bank of faculty, which comprises of Prof. Vishnu Pareek, The Head of School for Chemical Engineering, Prof. Michele Rosano, The Head of School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Ian Howard, The Head of School of Engineering Asset Management, to name a few. Each of the Heads of their respective departments, introduced their subjects, which ranged from Electrical Engineering to Sustainable Development. “We expect significant collaboration between Australia and India, in the area of energy, because both countries have complementary business needs. For example, Australia is a large producer of LNG, and India is likely to import even more LNG in the future”, concluded Prof. Pareek.
“With the burgeoning middle class economy on the cusp of expansion, and a growing population, Indian industrial production will need to consider a more sustainable model of production to meet the increasing standards of environmental management and stewardship expected by modern citizens and governments. We believe our experience in Industrial Ecology and cleaner production have many lessons for the journey ahead. The Sustainable Engineering Group want to share these lessons with the Indian Industry”, explained Prof. Rosano, upholding the basic underlying principle of Curtin University, which is encouraging Sustainable Living, among all the inhabitants of the planet.
The interactive session concluded with a formal vote of thanks. The session was well attended by more than 150 senior delegates.
