Mr. Ambarish Dasgupta, President and Mr. C S Ghosh, Vice President addressed the traditional Press Conference following every AGM on 12th October 2015 in the Chamber.
Mr. Dasgupta briefed the members of the media about the focus areas of the Chamber this year being, Agriculture, Health, MSMEs and Skills. He also mentioned that activities in the Tourism Sector would be focused on with special emphasis on developing Buddhist Tourism. The Chamber would be more involved in research-based work. The idea was to help the State in pre-identified fundamental areas/projects concerning economic development issues in which the Chamber, with its members and partners, would provide domain knowledge inputs through research. The Chamber would also work with key players in the entertainment industry and address the growth concerns. The President also briefed the media about the upcoming office in Siliguri, which was being set up with the focus on enhancing the Chamber’s business enabling activities in North Bengal, the Gateway to North East India and Eastern & South Eastern Asia. An update on the progress and upcoming e-auction for Samriddhi - Kalyani Analytics City, which was ideated and driven by the Chamber, was provided by the President. Mr. C S Ghosh spoke about, amongst other things, the significant role of media in bringing financial inclusion in the State.
