- Seminar on “Ease of Doing Business”, 5th June 2015, Chamber premises
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) organized a half-day Interactive Session on “Ease of Doing Business” on 5th June 2015 at the Williamson Magor Hall, BCC&I. Dr. Gautam Ray, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax was present in the session as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker.
The objective of the programme was to bring to board the measures being undertaken by the Government to ease bottlenecks in EXIM trade and to address the various issues, procedural and otherwise, confronting the exporters and importers. Besides, the forum also addressed the need for a plan of action to help the stakeholders in the smooth running of their respective business operations in the context of international trade.
The stakeholders of the session were the members from the Bengal Chamber’s shipping fraternity, ASIC, CFBA, CCHAA, MSA, EISA, FIEO, EEPC, various exporters and importers, customs agents, ship owners, ship brokers, ship charterers and the areas covered were Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax. This interactive session was an eye-opener for the industry fraternity and it gave a clear picture about the entire operations/procedures that are carried out in areas like Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax. The total number of participants present was 150 (approx).
