On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Sports Development Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Ananya Onnomon, paid tribute to those ladies whose untiring toils have made their children illustrious achievers and leaders in their respective walks of life. The Chamber celebrated this unique day with a very special programme – “Ratnagarbha”. This was the second successive year that the Chamber organized this unique tribute.
The Chamber paid tribute to Smt. Rumki Chatterjee, mother of Shri Abir Chatterjee (actor); Smt. Madhurita Roy, mother of Shri Anupam Roy (composer and singer); Smt. Nupur Basu, mother of Shri Sourav Ghosal (squash champion), Smt Anjali Banerjee, mother of Smt. Sutapa Talukdar (Odisi danseuse) and Smt. Hasner Jahan Ahad, mother of Janab Zokey Ahad, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh. The programme was moderated by Smt. Sharmistha Chatterjee, and included performances by Shri Sasha Ghosal and a play reading by Ananya Onnomon.
This year we had the privilege of having Shri Sadhan Pandey, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices, Government of West Bengal as our Chief Guest and Shri Debasish Kumar, Deputy Mayor and Member, Mayor-in-Council, Parks, Gardens & Sports, Advertisement, Kolkata Municipal Corporation as the Guest of Honour.
