- Workshop on Foreign Trade Policy, 3rd December 2014, Chamber premises

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I) organized a one day “Workshop on Foreign Trade Policy” on 3rd December 2014 in the Chamber Premises. The workshop had been arranged with a view to understand & analyze the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), Indirect Taxation & Export Benefits, Export Promotion Schemes, along with a study of the general provisions regarding imports & exports.
The next Foreign Trade Policy, for 5 years, is scheduled to be announced by the Ministry of Commerce and industry, Govt. of India. This Policy is a futuristic guideline which would impact the country’s International Trade till 2019.The announcement of a new Foreign Trade Policy for a period of five years is a step towards increasing foreign trade. It takes an integrated view of the overall development of India's foreign trade and provides a roadmap for the development of the sectors having prospects for export expansion and potential for employment generation. The workshop also helped the participants to analyze the upcoming policy on the basis of a critique of the existing policy. This expected analysis would help the participants understand the impact of the changes in the new policy on trade and business. The faculty for the workshop, Mr. Sudhakar Kasture is currently the Director of Helpline Impex Pvt. Ltd. and EXIM Institute (A Division of Helpline Impex Pvt. Ltd.), Mumbai & Partner of Generation Next Business Consulting. He is also a visiting faculty to various institutes like S. P. Jain Institute of Management Studies & Research, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Foreign Exchange Dealers’ Association of India, training colleges of various banks, ECGC of India Ltd., etc. He has also served as an expert on task force for “Exports Transaction Cost Reduction Project” constituted by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GOI.
