The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted the First Executive Committee meeting of CECCI at The Park Hotel, Kolkata on 5th May 2015.
The meeting was graced by the Presidents, Vice Presidents, Director / Secretary Generals and other senior representatives of 9 Chambers from the Eastern Sector namely:
1. Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries
2. District Chamber of Commerce and Industries (Midnapore Unit)
3. FINER
4. FJCCI
5. Howrah Chamber of Commerce and Industry
6. Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry
7. Raniganj Chamber of Commerce
8. The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry
9. The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Dr. Alok Roy, President, BCC&I commenced the proceedings of the event with his welcome speech. He welcomed the dignitaries of the Partner Chambers, thanking them for being able to take out time from their busy and demanding schedules. Dr. Roy then recapitulated the prime intent for the formation of CECCI by mentioning that the idea is to make all Chambers from the Eastern, North Eastern and neighbouring countries, come together and create a platform for the industries in the region to benefit from the association of their respective Chambers. Dr. Roy set the tone for the day’s events and passed the baton to the Bengal Chamber secretariat to take the Committee members through the agenda. Mr. Subhodip Ghosh, DDG, BCC&I then started off with a presentation covering the work done so far, and the work ahead.
The Charter was tabled and after lot of deliberations and amendments, the same was finalized. It was then duly signed by all the Partner Chambers present. The logo too was finalized while the Executive Committee was formed. 3 Vice Chairpersons were unanimously chosen by the Partner Chambers. President of Bihar Chamber, Chittagong Chamber and the Chairman of FINER were confirmed as the Vice Chairpersons of The Executive Committee. It was yet to be decided who from Odisha would be the 4th Vice Chairperson. The next meeting would be held at the time of the formal launch of CECCI.
