The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) partnering National Productivity Council (NPC) observed the National Productivity Day with the theme “Make in India: Zero Defect, Zero Effect” on 12th February 2015 at The Globsyn Room in the Chamber premises. The National Productivity Day is celebrated as part of the National Productivity Week, which was observed between 12th and 18th February 2015.
The Inaugural Session commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. Subhodip Ghosh, Deputy Director General, BCC&I. Mr. A K Sinha, Regional Director, NPC delivered the Opening Address. Mr. Kallol Datta, Immediate Past President, BCC&I and Chairman and Managing Director, Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd. graced the occasion as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. S Mallik, Senior Deputy Director, NPC concluded the inaugural session by delivering the Vote of Thanks.
The Inaugural Session was followed by a panel discussion on the theme chaired by Mr. Debkumar Basu, Senior Member, MSME Development and Manufacturing Committee & Director, ZETADEL Technologies P. Ltd. The panel comprised of eminent speakers from industry and academia. The panelists were, Professor (Dr.) Suman K Mukerjee, Principal & Dean, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, Kolkata Kendra; Prof. (Dr) Jitesh J Thakkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur; Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Director, Videocon Infinity Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., & Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, KAIL Limited (Videocon Group); Mr. Suman Lahiri, Regional Director, European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) and Mr. Pinaki Niyogy, Vice President – Manufacturing & Engineering, TIL Limited.
