The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), in collaboration with GS Marketing Associates organized an absorbing interactive session with Janab Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Hon’ble Finance Minister, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on Saturday 27th December 2014. His Excellency Syed Muazzam Ali, High Commissioner of Bangladesh in India & Janab Zokey Ahad, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata accompanied Shri Muhith. The interaction was held with a few select senior members of the Chamber. Dr. Alok Roy, President; Mr. C S Ghosh, Vice President; Mr. P Roy, Director General; Mr. S D Gupta, Chairperson - Trade Promotion and Business Development Committee, The Bengal Chamber as well as CEO, GS Marketing Associates and a few other eminent faces from the industry & academia, who are also integral parts of different Committees of the Bengal Chamber interacted with Shri Muhith.
Janab Muhith at the onset talked about Bangladesh & its improved current scenario vis-à-vis the past. He also spoke about the socio- economic state of affairs in Bangladesh. Janab Muhith addressed the queries of the members and sections of the media relating to bilateral trade & commerce between India and Bangladesh. The Hon’ble Minister, in response to a plea on reduction of import duty of raw materials for manufacturing units, suggested putting forward the proposal through BCC&I, so that the Finance Ministry of Bangladesh could take action on this issue. Janab Muhith also assured the participants that he would contemplate on improving the present visa regime between the two countries. The session was also very well attended by members of the media.
