- Second Annual Health Debate, 10th April 2015, The Palladian Lounge
The Health Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the second annual Debate on 10th April 2015 at The Palladian Lounge. ‘In the opinion of the House, Healthcare in Bengal is yet to attain its maturity’ – the subject for the debate generated impassioned arguments from distinguished doctors, economist, journalist and chartered accountant who made up teams for and against the motion.
Journalist, Ms. Swati Bhattacharjee, Economist & Management Expert, Dr. Suman Mukherjee and Consultants, Dr. Ashok Rangarajan from Apollo Chennai and Dr. Sumit Ray from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi were for the motion. Consultants Dr. Krishnendu Mukherjee from AMRI, Brig. Dr. Soumitra Chatterjee of CMRI, Medical Director of Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Dr. Col Soumen Basu and CA S. Ramalingam spoke against the motion.
Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Senior Vice Chairman & Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, and member of the Health Committee, was the moderator. Arguments followed and the opposition failed to convince the audience and the motion was carried.
