- Energy Conservation Awareness Programme at Schools in Tripura, Agartala, 11th June - 13th June 2015
A three day Energy Conservation Awareness Programme at schools in Agartala was organized by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) under the aegis of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted the programme.
This was part of the Chamber’s Energy Conservation Awareness Project in the North East, under the aegis of the Energy and Environment Committee, focusing on addressing the behavioural aspects of energy users.
The six schools that were selected by the Directorate of School Education, Government of Tripura were Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School, Ramakrishna Ashram Higher Secondary School, Maharani Tulsibati Higher Secondary School, Abhay Nagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya, Umakanta Academy and Bodhjung Higher Secondary School for Boys.
Mr. Nilanjan Bose, Advisor and Consultant to TSECL and Ms. Lopamudra Dutta, Assistant Director, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce explained the need for these young adults to be champions of energy conservation thus bringing about energy smartness in their daily chores while spreading awareness within their localities. The significance and the conscious need to buy star rated appliances was stressed upon and the implication of such an act was explained through a series of presentations, short films and animations. The interactive session came to a conclusion with a quiz on all that was discussed with the students and the winners went away with prizes. The school authorities were extremely receptive while the students in all the schools were attentive, responsive and enthusiastic to the cause.
