- Press Conference and Site Visit in Kalyani to launch “Samriddhi – Kalyani Analytics City”, 19th June, 2015
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Urban Development Department, Government of West Bengal organized a Press Conference on 19th June in Kalyani to launch “Samriddhi – Kalyani Analytics City”. The concept of creating a city on the lines of a smart city, dedicated to the business of analytics was launched by the Bengal Chamber and is now being catalyzed by the Chamber. The focus is to construct the city, a Rs. 3000 crore project by itself (which would result in a huge investment inflow to Bengal) and invite investors and players in Analytics to take up space in the city.
Shri Ujjal Biswas, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Technical Education and Training, Government of West Bengal addressed the media with Shri Debashis Sen, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Town and Country Planning and Municipal Affairs & Chairman, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (HIDCO); Dr. Ramendra Nath Biswas, Hon’ble MLA, Kalyani (SC); Shri Surendra Gupta, IAS; Chief Executive Officer, Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA); Dr. Nilimesh Roy Chowdhury, Former Chairman, Kalyani Municipality and others. Members of BCC&I including Mr. Ambarish Dasgupta, President Designate; Mr. Sutanu Ghosh, Senior Vice President, Mr. Kallol Datta, Immediate Past President; Mr. Taranjit Singh, Chief Patron, and other Industry representatives were present. Mr. Dulal Mukherjee, Proprietor, Dulal Mukherjee & Associates and Managing Committee Member, BCC&I who has drafted the blueprint of the City was also present.
The press conference was followed by a visit to the site of the proposed city.
The Government of West Bengal has identified 52 acres of land next to Kalyani Expressway for the proposed project and will offer the plot through e-auction.
Kolkata can ideally leverage its advantage of being home to intellectual manpower which is its unique attribute, backed by premier higher education institutions like IIT, ISI, IIEST, JU, IIM and others.
The concept of the New Age Analytics Hub was launched at the “Business Analytics Innovation Summit @ Bengal” which was organised by the Chamber on 10th December 2014 in Taj Bengal, Kolkata in the presence of Janab Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Municipal Affairs, Urban Development and Town and Country Panning, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance and Excise, Commerce and Industries, Information Technology and Electronics, Industrial Reconstruction, Government of West Bengal, and Shri Debashis Sen, IAS, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Town and Country Panning, Government of West Bengal & Chairman, WBHIDCO Ltd.
