The Annual General Meeting of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held on 25th September 2014 in the Chamber.
The Public Session was graced by Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal. Addressing the members of the Chamber, the Governor mentioned that it was the “duty” of the Government to “create an atmosphere” for industry. He said, “Businessmen and industrialists require some security and assistance in matters relating to investments. It is the duty of all of us, including the Government, to create an atmosphere to this effect.”
Mr. Kallol Datta, President, The Bengal Chamber welcomed the Hon’ble Governor and addressed the august gathering comprising Past Presidents, Members of the Consular Corps, Members of the Managing Committee and the Expert Committees of the Chamber, Members of the Chamber, Invitees and Members of the Media on the activities of the previous year and highlighted the Bengal-focused activities that the Bengal Chamber had undertaken for Bengal in the previous two years. Mr. P Roy, Director General, The Bengal Chamber delivered the Vote of Thanks.
Later, during the Business Session, the new Managing Committee for 2014-2015 was elected. Dr. Alok Roy, Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals was elected as the President. Mr. Ambarish Dasgupta, Partner and Head Management Consulting and Eastern Regional Leader, KPMG India was elected as President Designate. Mr Sutanu Ghosh, Managing Director, Ghosh, Bose & Associates Pvt. Ltd. was elected as Senior Vice President and Mr. Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, Chairman and Managing Director, Bandhan Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. was elected as Vice President.
