Seminar on Service Tax, 10th April 2014, Chamber premises
The Indirect Taxes Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the annual Seminar on Service Tax on 10th April 2014 in the Chamber in association with EIRC of Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Smt. Kameswari Subramanian, Chief Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Kolkata and Shri C M Chandolia, Commissioner of Service Tax, Kolkata graced the inaugural session. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. P. Roy, Director General of The Bengal Chamber. A Special Address was made by CMA Chitra Agarwal, Chairperson, EIRC of Institute of Cost Accountants. CMA Pallab Bhattacharya, Vice Chairman, EIRC of Institute of Cost Accountants, concluded the Inaugural Session with a Vote of Thanks.
The technical sessions of the Seminar covered the critical issues of Service Tax like Proposed GST; Export and Import of Service; Service Tax on Works Contract Services relating to Repair & Maintenance Contract; Reverse Charge and Joint Charge mechanism in Service Tax; Impact of VAT & Service Tax on Construction Industry and Cenvat Credit & Reverse Charge Mechanism. The speakers included Mr. T B Chatterjee, Chairperson - Indirect Taxes Committee, The Bengal Chamber & Senior Executive Vice President and Company Secretary, DIC India Ltd.; Mr. P K Saha, Managing Partner, P K Saha & Associates; Mr. Sushil Kumar Goyal, Agrawal Singhania & Co.; Mr. Vivek Jalan, FCA; Mr. Arun Agarwal-FCA, K N Jain & Co.; and Mr. Rajarshi Dasgupta, Associate Director - Indirect Tax, KPMG.
