The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an Interactive Session with Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, IAS, Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Government of India along with our other esteemed speakers like Mr. Nabin Ballodia, Partner, KPMG India; Mr. Sandeep Bhupia, Partner, KPMG India; Mr. Siddhartha Dutta, Partner, Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co., Kolkata and Mr. Siddhartha Murarka from Ghosh and Muraraka Legal.
Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, IAS, a key personality involved in the implementation of the recent revision of Schedule VII, was the Chief Guest of the session and made a brilliant presentation on the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 associated with CSR – the new game changer. He discussed the various provisions, schedules, sub section and sections in the context of the recent revision of Schedule VII. Dr Chatterjee clearly brought out the difference between what is CSR and what is a not a CSR activity. CSR is no longer to be used as the synonym for philanthropy!
Mr. Sandeep Dhupia spoke on the Corporate Ethics and whistle blowing regulations. The Session also witnessed addresses by Mr. Siddhartha Dutta, on the basic dimensions and legalities of CSR, while Mr. Nabin Ballodia made a pertinent point by terming this new regulation as the “2% Opportunity” for the corporates and the subsequent way forward. Also there was a brief interaction with Mr. Siddhartha Murarka, who made his presentation on Policy Designing – CSR and whistle blower mechanism.
The session concluded with a Q&A round which witnessed an active participation from the audience.
