Interactive Session with Consul General of Germany in Kolkata, 12th August 2014, Palladian Lounge, Chamber premises
Mr. Rainer Schmiedchen, Consul General, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany visited The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 12th August 2014 and interacted with the Managing Committee Members of the Chamber.
He observed that Indian investment is increasing in Germany and has high reputation. Phoenix Yule Ltd. got a special mention as a company based in West Bengal. Wind Turbines, Power Storage, Solar Power are gaining importance. To develop the bilateral trade, India should focus on fitting Indian products in sophisticated engineering processes in Germany. IT and software development are also vital segments now. Germany emphasizes on vocational trainings for blue collar jobs. The same has received priority in the G2G cooperation of both the countries. Mr. Schmiedchen highlighted that Cabinet Ministers of both the countries meet every second year to discuss the strengthening of bilateral trade. It is important that West Bengal is anchored in this forum to showcase its strategic advantage. West Bengal Tourism sector opportunities should be showcased in international Tourism Festivals.
