Singapore has been consistently acknowledged as a leading global business hub – one that features developed infrastructure, political stability, open business policies, a skilled workforce, the use of English as the main working language and respect for intellectual property rights.
Both MSMEs, in great numbers, and multinational companies have chosen Singapore as their HQ. Business owners all over the world regard Singapore as an ideal location to grow their businesses, with many of them using the country as a springboard to tap into other emerging markets. In this context, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with PwC organised this programme to address certain aspects of doing business in Singapore. The programme focused on,
• Why Singapore is an ideal destination?
• India - Singapore trade/investment linkages
• Overview of Singapore’s tax regime
• Possible regional/global structuring options using Singapore
The speaker was Mr. Abhijit Ghosh, Senior Partner from PWC Singapore who had worked with numerous Indian companies in the past on matters such as setting up of business operations in Singapore and using Singapore as a hub for Asia Pacific operations. He shared his perspectives on how to enter the market and benefit from market conditions while managing unfamiliar risks.
The programme was attended by more than 70 participants belonging to both corporates and MSMEs from varied sectors. Some of the sectors represented were, Shipping, Tea, Foodgrains and Processed Food, Engineering, etc.
