- Meeting with Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, 29th October 2014, The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata

Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla is India’s ambassador to Thailand. In his recent visit to Kolkata on October 29, 2014, Shri Shringla met with the senior office bearers of the Chambers of Commerce and industry representatives. From The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry, President Dr. Alok Roy, Director General Mr. P Roy and Capt. S B Mazumdar, Chairman, Shipping Committee attended the meeting, at the Lalit Great Eastern Hotel, Kolkata. It was an interactive session with the Ambassador on India’s bilateral economic relations with Thailand. Having established diplomatic relations for over 65 years, Thailand continues to be one of India’s most prominent partners in the field of Commerce and Industry, besides being a popular tourist destination in the East. Thai-India bilateral trade has grown significantly and has multiplied six times since 2000 to reach 8.67 billion USD and it is expected to grow further in the years to come. Shri Shringla opined that India's excellent relations with Thailand are an important and integral component of our strategic partnership with ASEAN. India's 'Look East' policy has been complemented by Thailand's 'Look West' policy in bringing the two countries closer.
