- India and the Czech Republic- Business Opportunities: In conversation with The Ambassador and Czech Businesses, 18th September 2014, Chamber premises

With the BilateralInvestment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPA) ratified in 1998, India-Czech Bilateral Trade has been further intensified. In the wake of such transition, an Interactive Session on “Opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation” with The Ambassador, His Excellency Miloslav Stasek and other industry representatives from the Czech Republic was organized by BCC&I in association with EBTC.
H.E. Miloslav Stasek, in his talk stated that the Czech Republic is interested in co-operation with India as it has progressed hugely in the realm of infrastructure. With the economy of the Czech Republic augmenting to USD 1.5 billion currently, India plays the role of a major investor in the country and ranks 9th, leaving behind the likes of China and Japan. H.E. Miloslav Stasek stressed on the fact the Czech Republic is keen to strengthen their presence in the country as India is an important sub-continent for them and Indian organizations are highly reckoned in their country.
Mr. Utsav Parekh, Honorary Consul of Czech Republic, Kolkata, was also present in the event. He urged the Ambassador to bring in more companies to the region as it would help in further business development. The other speakers in the event were Ms. Milena Boranova from the Aircraft Industries, Mr. Jaroslav Ira, Managing Director, Doosan Skoda Power, Mr. Ivan Kamenik, Head of Promotion Agency, CzechTrade, Jiri Janecik, Commercial Head, The Czech Republic Embassy, Mr. Lokesh Bardia and Mr. Akhil Malhotra. The interactive session showcased possible cooperations with the companies dealing in heavy engineering and complicated projects accomplished within a ´turn-key´ contract in areas of Manufacturing, Heavy Machinery production, Power and Nuclear Power engineering, Transport engineering, Steel Cylinders and Vessels; large investment assemblies, Information Technology, Green Technology etc.
Focusing on probable trade links between the two countries involving the senior representatives from the Czech Republic corporates, an interactive session on prospective trade development in both the countries, was held. The event tried to create a relevant platform to provide a broad understanding of the scope of a two-pronged economic approach between the two countries bringing in likeminded corporates together to initiate the prospect of partnerships, which would further help in fortifying relations between the two countries.
