- Field Trip to CESC Budge Budge Generating Station, 17th April 2015

The Energy and Environment Committee organized for its members a plant visit to CESC Budge Budge Generating Station (BBGS) on 17th April 2015. The focus was to learn from the best practices of one of the greenest and most efficient generating stations. The Chamber takes this opportunity to thank CESC Limited for arranging and hosting a most informative, educative and memorable trip.
Our special thanks to Mr. Sankar Mukhopadhyay, Deputy General Manager (Training), CESC Limited and Mr. Ashis Saha, General Manager from Budge Budge Generating Station of CESC for making this such a special event. The CESC team at Budge Budge took great pains to explain the operations and made this a trip to remember!
We reached Budge Budge in the morning, and the visit commenced with a short introductory presentation on the plant, followed by a tour of the premises including the turbines, control room, water treatment plant, wagon tippler section, etc. Following lunch, the interactive session continued with a more detailed presentation on the environment management system at the plant, which is the world’s first CDM certified coal-fired generating station and has zero effluent discharge. Indeed it is a benchmark in many respects and the members of the Committee who were present were rewarded with a great learning and most rewarding experience sharing session.
Our heartfelt thanks to Team CESC at Budge Budge for making the trip so memorable.
