FOR THE YEAR 2013 - 2014

Visit to Dimapur, Nagaland on the occasion of the first ever project awarded to The Bengal Chamber from the Government of Nagaland on Creation and Maintenance of Energy Awareness Portal for the State of Nagaland, 7th June 2014, Dimapur

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been awarded a project by the Government of Nagaland on creation and maintenance of an Energy Awareness Portal for the State of Nagaland focused on catalyzing a behavioural change amongst the consumers. For the Chamber, which has already carved a niche for itself in the country in the realm of energy and related environmental management best practices, government-industry-academia tieups, collaborations with overseas agencies, research and providing international forums to strategize Climate Change mitigation action, this was yet another step forward.

In the context of the current project, the Chamber conducted an Awareness Programme in Dimapur, Nagaland on Saturday, 7th June 2014 in association with the Nagaland State Designated Agency, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India and Enfragy Solutions India Private Limited. Ms Sukanya Bose, Assistant Director, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Mr Nilanjan Basu, Senior Manager, Enfragy Solutions India Private Limited visited Dimapur, Nagaland to conduct the programme.

Mr. Rokozhalie Angami, The Chief Electrical Inspector, Electrical Inspectorate, Nagaland State Designated Agency, Government of Nagaland along his team and Mr. K T Wabang the former Chief Electrical Inspector, Electrical Inspectorate, Nagaland State Designated Agency, Government of Nagaland, organized a visit to two of the prominent schools of Nagaland, namely, Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Vision Home Higher Secondary School. After an introductory speech by Mr. Rokozhalie Angami, Ms. Sukanya Bose and Mr. Nilanjan Basu together made a presentation on Energy Efficiency, enlightening the students on the various simple ways on how energy can be conserved and saved in their day-to-day lives. This was followed by a quiz, where students were given prizes for answering correctly.

The event was a success with students responding well to the presentation and especially, to the quiz. A lot of interaction was followed by a vote of thanks from the Nagaland State Designated Agency, Government of Nagaland
