Introduction to The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry was set up in 1853. However, the Chamber's origins date back to 1833 when its founding forefathers came together to form the first association of its kind in the country, which was later formalized as the Bengal Chamber. For the last one and a half centuries, the Chamber has played a pioneering role as a helmsman, steering the evolution of Commerce and Industry in India.

Our Vision
To be the most valued Partner of Commerce, Industry, Academia, Professionals and Governments for achieving inclusive growth and employment generation, together with accomplishing societal and environmental needs.

Donning its multiple roles as catalyst, initiator, facilitator, business partner and service provider, the Chamber has helped Governments, both at the Centre and State in crafting pioneering and significant legislations.        read more about The Chamber

"The Calcutta Gallery" dedicated to our Eternal City is a pictorial journey down the hallowed pathways of the industrial and business history of Kolkata. The transformation of three villages by the Hooghly into a colossal metropolis is fascinating or inspiring and magical. The Gallery is the first of its kind which portrays 325 years' glorious history of Calcutta through a rare collection of photographs of the iconic City. The Gallery is housed at the Chamber premises.

On the occasion of The Bengal Chamber's AGM on 14th September 2016, "The Calcutta Gallery" was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Commerce & Industries, Finance & Excise, Industrial Reconstruction & Public Enterprises, Govt. of West Bengal.
